The Pier Bar

The Pier Bar

In Cleggan, County Galway, the Pier Bar stands proud along the Cleggan Pier, surrounded by the sea and views of the beautiful landscape and mountains of Connemara. With intimate views of the hustle and bustle of the pier, visitors can watch fishermen unload their boats from the pub’s patio while enjoying what the locals deem “the best pint of Guinness in Connemara.” The Pier Bar is also the very last stop before boarding the ferry to Inishbofin, a small island known for a vibrant arts scene, pristine nature, and a rich cultural heritage.

Inside, the turf fire creates a cozy and welcoming atmosphere where guests enjoy a large selection of whiskey, local craft beers, and a menu to suit all tastes. Visitors rave about the crab legs – caught locally in Cleggan Bay, and other seasonal seafood specials fresh off the boats. You’ll also find a pool table, dart board, and juke box, and they frequently host local musicians for trad sessions. If after a long day you don’t fancy leaving you’re in luck, as the owners also operate a B&B above the pub.
